“Think of appearance inspection--Think of ViSCO”

As the expert in appearance inspection and image processing inspection, we have been realizing switches from visual inspection to automated appearance inspection in many manufacturing processes. The biggest advantage of introducing automated inspection is the improvement and stabilization of inspection accuracy. As a result, the yield rate will be improved, and it will be possible to promote more reliable quality assurance.

An algorithm that inspects like a human

This high inspection accuracy is made possible by the high level of image processing technology that is one of the strengths of ViSCO. Here, the "algorithm that inspects like a human" originally devised by ViSCO comes into play.

When considering the replacement of visual inspection by automated inspection, there is a general tendency to seek the same level of detail as the human eye. The human eye and hand are very capable. For example, the inspection ability and flexible judgment of a skilled inspector cannot be easily automated.

That is why at ViSCO, we are developing technology from the perspective of understanding the nature of technology that can replace human eyes.

Against the backdrop of these technological strengths, ViSCO's appearance inspection capabilities have been refined, and it has come to be recognized as a "truly useful appearance inspection system" in manufacturing sites around the world.

Appearance inspection system is not universal

As mentioned earlier, assuming a complete replacement of the human eye and hand not only often does not work, but there are also cases where it does not work due to the limitations of image processing technology.

ViSCO's image processing inspection system begins by capturing images of the target product with camera(s). The captured images are instantly transferred to the main controller, VTV-9000 , and image processing is performed. From the processed image, defects are detected according to the inspection contents set in advance, and the result is output as OK / No-Good.

In image inspection, the selection of cameras, lenses, and lighting to capture images suitable for inspection is the most important and will determine the success of the inspection. We cannot guarantee the success of the inspection because the system is not suitable for objects that do not reflect light consistently during inspection, such as objects with complex shapes, objects that cause diffuse reflection on the surface, or objects that are large in size.

On the other hand, ViSCO’s image processing inspection is widely used in the manufacturing processes of many other fields, such as connectors, semiconductors and other electronic components, plastic molded products, pharmaceuticals, food packaging, and daily necessities, contributing to higher reliability in the quality of these products.

We have set up a YouTube channel with videos in English and Thai versions so that more customers can understand about image processing inspection and our company. You can also select Japanese with subtitles. Please subscribe to our channel and watch the videos.
